Effective October 21, 2026. This policy explains how Bœuf Local (Ferme David Moorhead et Philip Pelletier, “we”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information on boeuflocal.ca, as required by Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

What we collect and why
- Customer account: your name, email address and password (encrypted), so you can order and follow your orders.
- Orders: delivery address, phone number, products and amounts, to prepare, deliver and invoice your order and meet our tax obligations.
- Payment: card and PayPal payments are processed directly by PayPal; we never see or keep your card number. For bank transfers we keep only the payment confirmation.
- Contact form: your email address, your message and any files you attach, used only to answer you.
- Newsletter: your email address, only if you sign up; every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
- Technical information: like every website, our server records your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to keep the site running and secure.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. You may choose not to give it to us, but we will then be unable to process your order or request.
Cookies
The site only uses the cookies it needs to work: the shop’s session cookie (PrestaShop-…), which keeps your cart, language and login. We use no analytics or advertising cookies. PayPal may set its own cookies during payment.
Service providers and where your information is kept
Each provider receives only what it needs. Several are located outside Quebec, where the law offers different protection than in Quebec. Before information is sent outside Quebec, we assess whether it will be adequately protected, and we choose providers that commit to protecting it.
- Web hosting: the shop, its data and our email are hosted by our hosting provider on servers located outside Quebec.
- PayPal: payment processing.
How long we keep it
- Customer accounts: until you delete your account, or 3 years after your last order or login.
- Orders and invoices: 6 years after the end of the fiscal year, as tax law requires.
- Contact-form messages and attachments: 3 years after our last exchange.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: about 1 month.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
How we protect it
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and passwords are encrypted. Access to the shop’s administration is limited to the people who need it. If a confidentiality incident creates a risk of serious harm, we will notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people concerned, and we record every incident in a register.
Your rights
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, withdraw your consent, or receive it in a commonly used format. You can also update your information under “My account”. Write to admin@boeuflocal.ca; we answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
Changes
Any change will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
